As a part of the Peninsula Task Force on Aging, we are dedicated to advocating for seniors in the community to ensure their needs are met by the Legislature on every level. Senior Day at the Capital acts as a catalyst to bring together our aging community and its advocates to propel our state Legislature to continue the goal of all adults, to age in place, safely and with health.
Additionally, Senior Day at Capitol Hill allows attendees the opportunity to meet legislators & elected officials to learn about what is in store for older Virginians in the future and potential future legislation.

The Peninsula Task Force on Aging, Virginia Commonwealth University & Hampton University held a discussion about Equity and Longevity for older adults. This event includes a presentation that defines systemic equity, identifies where inequities may exist and outlines best practices to affect positive change and work towards greater equity for all older adults. The event included a panel of experts and individuals with lived experience to highlight the impact of compounding prejudice over a lifetime and to help us gain an understanding about what inequity looks like from the eyes of an older adult. Event held: October 22, 2020
